SILÊNCIO, DESTRUIÇÃO, CRIAÇÃO
A PROPÓSITO DE “INFINITO SILÊNCIO”, DE FERREIRA GULLAR

Resumo: No poema “Infinito silêncio”, de Ferreira Gullar, a política está ausente: não é tema, nem há a ela nenhuma alusão ostensiva. O poema é um mergulho do poeta em sua subjetividade, da qual emerge, como imagem fundamental, o vazio absoluto anterior à organização da elementar matéria. Mergulho que se desdobra num duplo reconhecimento: por um lado, o apagamento de certas possibilidades históricas, o aniquilamento de algumas esperanças; e, por outro, a percepção de que a vitória não foi absoluta ou definitiva. Lido de uma perspectiva adorniana, o relativo abandono do engajamento político, ao invés de recuo, pode ser interpretado como um modo de reação à derrocada de boa parte das possibilidades de superação histórica com que o século XX se debateu. De forma que, ao voltar-se sobre si e sobre a mais absoluta vastidão do cosmo, “Infinito silêncio” encena uma resistência ao atual estado de coisas, expressando negativamente a ideia de harmonia e incorporando as contradições a sua própria estrutura.

Abstract: In the poem "Infinito silêncio", de Ferreira Gullar, politics is absent: it is not a subject, nor is there any allusion to it. The poem is a diving in the poetical subjectivity, which emerges as the fundamental image the absolute emptiness, before the organization of matter. Diving which unfolds in a double recognition: on the one hand, the deletion of certain historical possibilities, the annihilation of some hopes and, secondly, the perception that the “victory” was not absolute or definitive. Read an overview of Adorno, the relative neglect of political engagement, rather than retreat, can be interpreted as a way of reaction to the collapse of the historical possibilities discussed throughout the twentieth century. So that, by turning on itself and on the absolute vastness of the cosmos, "Infinite silence" enacts a resistance to the status quo, expressing the idea of harmony negatively embodying the contradictions in its innermost structure.
